Once I switched from the 1D X to the R3, I sold the EF 24-70/2.8 II but given that better AF was no longer a factor with f/2.8 lenses, I had trouble justifying the RF 24-70/2.8so I got the RF 28-70/2 instead. But the versatility of the 24-105mm range coupled with the faster aperture will be wonderful.

True, 24-70 and 15-35 2.8s have an even larger filter thread than the 70-200 2.8. So the aperture size is a bad estimator for thread size outside of long telephotos. If 24-105 2.8 fallows in the steps of 28-70 2.0, it may be bigger than 70-200. Banderras's gear list:

The RF version is definitely Canons best 24-105 but I didn't have the EF version either. A jack of all trades is rarely a master of anything. I used to also have the sigma art version and that throng was super sharp. I ended up getting a 24-70 2.8 cuz I needed the extra stop light. Interesting responses.
