I know there are 60-something DLC, and total it all costs somewhere around $250 US. I currently don't have a ton of money, though I just started a new job and finally have some money coming in. I'm wondering if it's more worth it to pay the $4.99 a month and get everything there is for EU4, or if it's better to gradually buy each DLC over time.
At full price, The Cossacks is a bit much but it adds a good amount of features for 7 euro. I personally think the favors system as well as estates is very awesome. Makes the game more difficult as well as more intricate. The estates allow you to get great leaders and monarch points, helping you dominate.
Third Rome, Cradle of Civilization, Rule Brittania, Dharma, Golden Century, Emperor. While I like the game a lot, the base price of 90 euro for all this dlc is unreasonable to me. Which dlc are the most important, and with my normal focus on europe, military dominance and wars which dlcs could be the most game changing for me.
DLC is one of the few ways to freshen up the experience once you’ve gone through your first dozen cities. 1. Europa Universalis IV: Ultimate Bundle – $384.89. The past few ultra-expensive Steam games are all pretty close, but Europa Universalis IV: Ultimate Bundle blows them out of the water. The $40 base price skyrockets up to nearly $400
I really enjoy playing eu4 and have the other DLCs but I was looking into getting Dharma and saw the reviews were mostly negative. I was wondering why they were negative and if it was worth the $20 purchase.
Both to show it is still a useful guideline and to allow for discussion & questions. Tier 1 is HIGHLY recommended and generally considered "core" DLCs or "must-have's". Tier 2 adds depth to almost every nation in the game and has neat features for them. Tier 3 adds big features to most nations.
Its definitely worth it. The problem is, if you ever play a multiplayer game and get to use someone elses DLC, you will be ruined. Even if you learn what those DLC features are, it will ruin the game for you. If you can manage to play the base game in a vacuum, it is worth it. If you don't know which nation you want to play or want to play many nations across the world I would recommend Art of War and Rights of Man as the two "most universially useful" DLCs. #5. I've been thinking of finally getting EUIV but It's really not necessary, but given how difficult Byzantium is, it's pretty nice to have. The rest are equally niche (COP for Native federations, American Dream for more USA events, Star and Crescent for more Muslim events) or just purely cosmetic (new music, portraits, units). TLDR - If you're not gonna play Byzantium, don't bother with any DLC.
the thing is: without dlc there are some actions that you cannot do (or cannot do in a timely manner and have to wait 95 years in game) which makes absolutely no sense or make the game just painful to play. simple example is the favor mechanic for wars. triple_cock_smoker. • 1 yr. ago.
War: always fight with maintenance on max and keep watch on manpower and force limit. Having no manpower is really bad and being over force limit takes a heavy toll in your economy. Also try to fight always on advantageous terrain. Fighting in mountains gives -2 to dice roll and highlands, marshs and woods gives -1.

Yes, I did it and it was probably my most fun game of EU4 in 550+ hours. I used the Purple Phoenix Arise mod which didn't seem to need the DLC. Worth noting that that mod is no longer updated, if you want to use it (which I recommend, I really love it) the you have to roll back to patch 1.6.2. Yes, I did and it was incredibly fun.

Thus, ideally, you need to pick CCR or Diplo annexation, and use one of them exclusivly. But what I realised was that if you go something like diplo-religous-influce-admin-quality, you can stack a very high dcr. Even without any national ideas or missions you can get something like (25+5+15+10) which is 55 percent diplo cost reduction. I bet if
Yup. I paid like 40€ for base game, and all DLC, and that's expensive, because I didn't want to wait for a bundle with last 3 DLCs, so I paid like 8€ each for the newest ones, and 15 for bundle with everything before emperor. I don't get people who complain this game is expensive.
